Rent a room by bed

Each room in a house is rented one way at a time: as a Room, or By bed, where each bed is its own listing with its own price, calendar and bookings. All of this is managed on the house page, not on the listing.

Steps

1. Open Houses and press the house concerned.
2. On that room, press By bed on the rental mode switch and confirm. The room listing is turned off and each bed is booked separately. Existing bookings stay.
3. Press Add bed to add a bed. A new bed copies the house details and starts as inactive.
4. Fill in the monthly rate for each bed, then turn on that bed's switch.
5. To switch back, press Room on the same switch. The beds are turned off and guests book the whole room.

What guests see

The house page lists the whole house, each room and each bed with a Free or Taken status. A room rented by bed also has its own room page. Booking the whole house blocks all the rooms and beds inside it, and booking one bed blocks the whole house on those dates.

What it does not do

• A room cannot be rented as a room and by bed at the same time.
• The old Make it a shared room option on the listing has been removed. Use the house page.
• Guests cannot book several beds at once. Each bed is booked separately.
• The system does not set gender or occupant matching rules for rooms.
