Monthly rent payment receipt template
A rent receipt is written proof that the landlord has received a rent payment. It should state the receipt number, payment date, tenant name, unit address, the rent month paid for, the amount in ringgit and the payment method. Tenants use it as proof of payment, and landlords as a record of rental income.
Issue one every time rent is received, including cash payments and bank transfers.

- Does a landlord need to give a receipt for rent?
- A receipt protects both sides: the tenant has proof of payment, and the landlord has a record of rental income to report to LHDN. Read our rental income tax guide for the records you need to keep.
- How should rent receipts be numbered?
- Use a single series that never repeats, for example the year and a running number such as 2026-0001, so every payment can be traced and no receipt goes missing.
- Is a receipt needed for bank transfer payments?
- A bank statement shows money coming in, but does not state the unit or rent month. A receipt ties the payment to the right month and unit.
- Can UrusPro issue receipts automatically?
- Yes. When a payment is recorded in UrusPro, a PDF receipt on your letterhead is generated and can be sent to the tenant.
