Cut OTA commission
You do not need to leave the OTAs to cut commission. Move some repeat bookings to your own booking site, where no commission is charged, and let the OTAs do the job they are genuinely good at: bringing in new guests who have never heard of you.
What it costs if left alone
- 15 to 20 per cent commission on every booking, including guests who would come back on their own.
- The relationship with the guest is owned by the channel, not you.
- Prices and cancellation terms are set by the channel's rules.
The steps
Work it out first
The commission calculator shows how much you pay a year and how much stays with you if some bookings move. Numbers first, decision after.
Set up your booking site
A public catalogue under your own brand with your photos, house rules and prices, ready to share.
Give a reason to book direct
A coupon for repeat guests, or a slightly better rate because you pay no commission on it.
Keep calendars in sync
Direct bookings must close dates on the OTAs. Without an outgoing feed, moving bookings only swaps a commission problem for a double booking problem.

Frequently asked questions
- Do OTAs allow me to offer a lower price on my own site?
- Rate parity terms differ between channels and change from time to time. Read your own channels' terms. A coupon for repeat guests is usually safer than lowering the published price.
- How many bookings can be moved?
- It depends on how many of your guests are repeat guests. Our calculator uses a percentage you set yourself, because we do not know your mix and will not guess it.
- Should I leave Airbnb completely?
- Not recommended. OTAs are good for discovery. What is expensive is paying a discovery commission for guests who already know you.
