WoW Stay alternatives for homestay operators in Malaysia

WoW Stay is a Malaysian homestay system with three monthly packages, from RM69 for 1 to 5 units to RM299 for 16 to 30 units. UrusPro prices per listing: first listing free, then RM 10 a month per homestay listing and RM 3 per room, no booking commission, and monthly rentals in the same system.

What WoW Stay's own site says

  • The WoW Stay site publishes three monthly packages: Stay Plus RM69 a month for 1 to 5 units, Stay Pro RM149 for 6 to 15 units, and Stay Max RM299 for 16 to 30 units.
  • The site states that annual packages give two months free.
  • A transparency note on the site states a WoW Live Success Fee on successful bookings through WoW Live: 15% on Stay Plus, 10% on Stay Pro and 10% on Stay Max.
  • The site states that iCal Sync is included in the packages, while a Real-time 2-way Channel Manager is offered as a separate add-on.
  • A Total Plan package is listed with a value of RM10,000 and a first payment of RM2,000, including 36 months of hosting and maintenance.
  • The site states the product suits owners with 1 to 30 units, and is run by IT People Sdn Bhd, a company with Malaysia Digital status.

Why Malaysian operators look for something else

  • A 10% to 15% success fee on WoW Live bookings means the monthly fee is not the whole cost.
  • The cheapest package starts at RM69 a month, so an owner with one or two units pays for a five-unit limit.
  • The two-way Channel Manager is a separate add-on, not part of the package price.
  • Long-term monthly rentals and tenancy documents are not part of the homestay packages.

  2. Option 2

    Stay with WoW Stay

For: Pure homestay operators with 5 to 30 units already running on it.

It is built for the same way of working, in the same language, for the same market. Switching operating systems is not a one-day job, and the cost of switching may be higher than the problem you are trying to solve.

  3. Option 3

    A spreadsheet, for now

For: One unit with a few bookings a month.

Below a certain point, any system adds work without adding revenue. The trouble starts at the second unit or the second channel.
